Siouxsie Sioux - A tribute to a music icon.
I have been an admirer of Siouxsie Sioux (Siouxsie and the Banshees) since the late 70s, when I first heard Hong Kong Gardens. With her striking image and strident vocal deliverance, I knew there was something exceptionally special about her.
Having spanned decades within the music industry with many hits, she never compromised, always on her own terms and has been a force to be reckoned with. Always overtly sexual without trying, unlike many 'stars' of today, Siouxsie was never contrived.
The second reason for doing this shoot is that my musical partner, Micci, has had so many people coming up to her after gigs and comparing her to Siouxsie, not just in looks but in performance, which is truly flattering, so we both thought we would do a tribute to the icon.
Having referenced many shoots Siouxsie has done, many of which are nude and have a fetish/bondage connotation, we styled this shoot accordingly.
Micci bought a black wig and we put together the outfits, along with referencing Siouxsie's make up online. Anyone who knows Micci will know that she doesn't dress like Siouxsie Sioux.
We hope we have done this strong woman justice.
